The Day Snuffy Had the Sniffles is a Little Golden Book. It was released in 1988 and it based off the Sesame Street television series.

Story[]

Mr. Snuffleupagus has the sniffles, and Big Bird is on his way to Snuffy's cave to cheer him up.

Along the way, everybody that Big Bird meets gives him a cheer-up present to bring to Snuffy. Oscar gives him a jar of sardine-and-sauerkraut soup, Bert loans Snuffy his bottlecap collection, and Cookie Monster contributes a box of cookie crumbs (it used to have cookies until Cookie ate them).

At the library, Betty Lou loans him books. Big Bird passes by the Count's Castle, when the Count gives him a box of tissues. Then he visits Gladys the Cow who loans him strawberry ice cream.

When Big Bird gets to Snuffy's cave, he feels embarrassed -- everyone has a present for Snuffy, and he forgot to bring anything himself. Plus, he's left a trail of dripping ice cream everywhere.

Inside, he sees Snuffy sick in bed, with his mommy trying to cheer him up. Just then, Snuffy sneezes a Snuffleupagus-sized sneeze, causing the presents Big Bird is carrying to fall and crash to the ground, but Snuffy says his present to cheer him up is a visit from Big Bird.

Trivia[]

This is the thirteenth Sesame Street book illustrated by Tom Brannon.
